Monticello Box Fence

In my youth of western movies, a box canyon was one with just one way out.  I think they’ve changed that.  This is Monticello Box which is a narrow canyon with a county road and Alamosa Creek running through it … Continue reading

Juniper Corral

Some friends and I hiked to Raab Park in the Gila National Forest.  It’s about a 3 1/2 mile hike in with some steep rocky slopes to get there, but it’s beautiful country.  Most folks probably go to see the … Continue reading

Stone Corner Post

I saw this stone corner post near Globe, Arizona last month.  The rocks are enclosed in a wire cylinder.  Great use for all the rocks found on the land!  It does look like rough land to fence. I’ll add this … Continue reading

Beware of Dog

A dog I saw in Globe, Arizona.  I was not afraid. This will fit in both Friday Fences and Camera Critters.

Flowers and Fences

Arizona in Spring – wonderful wildflowers this year.  And they certainly perk up this cinnamon colored fence! I’ll put this in Friday Fences – I’ve missed being a part of that group.

Border Fence between Old and New Mexico

This fence saddens me, but I’m still entering it in Friday Fences.

Tuscarora Bottle Fence

I found this delightful fence decorated with bottle necks in Tuscarora, Nevada.  This very small town used to house miners, now it is home mostly to artists. Linking to Friday Fences.

Chain Link Snow

This is part of the usually unattractive chain link fence on one side of my house.  The snow last winter certainly improved it. Linking to Friday Fences.

Sturdy Cattleguard

This is a very new cattleguard and perhaps the sturdiest I have ever seen.  Most in this part of the country are very old, often filled with blowing soil, uneven, and probably not too efficient.  This one will be around … Continue reading

Burnt Fence Post

Once a large post, now it’s more sculptural than functional.  Yellowing cottonwoods along the Rio Grande can be seen in the background. Linking with Friday Fences.

Desert Fence

I came across this fence hiking on Turtleback Mountain.  Once it kept cattle in – there’s a cattle guard on the road near the river, but now it’s frail.  The wood posts have weathered; the wire is rusty; and in … Continue reading

Old Corral

This was taken in Spring on the road to Winston, NM.  I like the solid look of this fence.  I did make this into a card.   Haven’t found an appropriate occasion or verse for it yet.  Any ideas? I’m … Continue reading

Kansas Rock Fence Posts

Driving south through Kansas – near the geographical center of the 48 states, I saw these fence posts made from rock.  You use what you have.  Many homes and buildings in the towns were made from this same kind of … Continue reading
