About

I’ve been on this earth for a while, but I’m still finding my voice, listening to myself. This blog gives me a chance to present my authentic self. Honesty is important, and honesty with myself the most important to me. Photography allows me to share my world, so each blog will have photos. I’ll never talk about f-stops or any technical information, just content. Some of the images are quite good I think, others are just snapshots, but all have strong content for me.
I moved to small desert town to be able to semi-retire. It’s less expensive to live here and much quieter, slower-paced life than my native California. I can hear myself here easier than in the noise and speed of the golden state. I can remember the important things easier and live a truer life. I could handle the city in my youth, but I no longer have the ability or desire to juggle all that input.
In travel or everyday life, I like the back roads – slower, quieter, more subtle. And on a trip I want a new route. New roads – new perspectives. It’s a good life.

And on the 2nd anniversary of this blog, I’m adding a new blog This I Leave just for genealogy – including Grandpa’s diaries which have been on this blog.

I stopped by and got caught for a time looking. Gosh, there is someone else that photographs building angles, backstreets and odd stuff that for some reason is interesting. I know I will be back again – cuz I ain’t done with my journey thru your posts yet.

Hi Donna, thanks for taking the time to comment on my new blog, I wasnt sure if anyone else would ever see it! I’m supposed to be working this morning but I got lost in your backroads instead – and loved every step!

  22. Hi Donna,
Thanks for liking my photo “Girl with a Pearl Earring” on writewireless.wordpress.com. I love your blog–your photography and sense of things. Thanks for sharing with the world!

Thanks for visiting my Wilson Genealogy website. I like your about me page, and I will be checking out your blog too. I love history and genealogy. I love old things, and old people, good things like love, honesty, peace, and serenity.
I am semi-retired at sixty, and I love it too. I have over twenty blogs. I write about my sobriety and serenity, history, blogging, webpages, and politics (it is ok if you are not). There is a lot more to me than just politics. I believe in the Balance of life. God bless you, Sally

    • Hi Sally. Thanks for stopping by. Over twenty blogs – Wow! I can barely manage two (one photography and one genealogy). I will look closer at your writings. I am impressed.

      • Sally's Special Services says:

Thanks, Donna. I just started out writing about my family, then I continued to add a blog for each part of my family. Now, I try to write more about me. I never believed that anyone would want to read about me. So, I do it for me. It helps me to heal and grow. Thanks for the kudos. I planned to write a book for years, but just procrastinated for years. I always wanted to be an author like Louisa Mae Alcott. I lived through my books as a child. My mother taught me the love of books, and my maternal grandmother loved Ralph Waldo Emerson. God bless you and thanks for the comment.

  24. Donna…..thanks for the like on my blog today. We have always loved TorC and spent some lovely days there at the Blackstone. For family reason we have had to move from the Southwest to North Central TX. We are slowing bending to the change.
I really liked your water tower series. Keep exposing your heart, it seems to be an iceberg yet to be seen………..monos en theos….jim

  25. Philip O'Brien says:

I love your photos. I would love to spend so.e time wandering the desert with my camera so I am a little jealous of your opportunities. That said, I have no doubt it can be hard some days too.

    • Funny, I was feeling a bit envious of your shots shrouded in fog. The light here is interesting but can be quite harsh – you know that from Death Valley. Take a few more foggy shots and I’ll think of them when the desert gets too hot!

      • Philip O'Brien says:

that, I should be able to do for you. The weather here is reasonably predictable for the next 2 months so I am sure more fog photos will follow 🙂

  26. Hey Donna, the back roads are always the best, and we’ve plenty of them in Australia 😉

Thank-you for visiting my blog and for the follow.:) Keep in touch.

  28. Hello Donna. I like your plan for semi-retirement. I will be there in a few years and have a goal much the same! By the way, I really enjoyed walking through your pictures. Nicely done! Looking forward to seeing more!

  29. azleader says:

I like your pictures. You and I have traveled to and photographed some of the same places in the Great Southwest. I always feel a kind of photographer kinship under conditions like that.
