Red Tailed Hawk

He’s a bit suspicious.  I found him in the road with a fine roadkill jackrabbit and I moved the rabbit off the road to keep this guy safe.  He wasn’t sure it was all in his best interest.  Or hers.  I have no idea of the right pronoun.

    Love the texture of the vegetation in concert with the hawks feathers. I’m wondering if the wind was blowing or if his leg and under-feathers stuck straight out like that anyway.

    I don’t think he was used to humans touching his dead rabbits. Great picture.

    Such a compassionate act to prevent the senseless death of a fine creature. I once saw a hawk in full flight hit a car while chasing its prey. The kind motorist stopped to look after the stunned bird. I never knew its fate.
