Per Wikipedia, Fredonia is the northernmost town in Arizona, and bills itself as the gateway to the northern rim of the Grand Canyon (actual distance not specified) and “Activities in the area include escaping and plotting your escape.” Not surprising since the median income for a family was $30,913 per the 2000 census (a family being an average of 3.25).

Nothing is really close to the North Rim – that’s a good thing. I like escaping as an activity – I’ll use that next time I’m asked!
