Another Roadrunner

It has been a good year for roadrunners and for those of us fascinated with them.  I have had one hanging around the bird feeder almost every day.  One day, there were two roadrunners – great havoc among the small birds who were seen as meals by the two hunters.  This one is showing off the soft dark feathers usually hidden by its wings.

Interesting birds aren’t they! and this is a great capture. I used to have them around when I lived in Arizona. This post makes me want to read about them. I do not even know what kind of bird they are, so now I’ll google them.

Well here we go: it is a ground cuckoo !! as we well know it has a long tail and a crest. It is found in the southwestern United States and Mexico, usually in the desert… who would have thought they are a type of cuckoo? not I.

  3. Are you saying that there are people who are not fascinated by roadrunners? Hard to believe.
