    And because they take hundreds of years to grow and the wood can persist for hundreds of years after they die, they can be very old too.

  2. Here in the east, Junipers are known as Eastern Red Cedars, almost a weed tree. They take over old pastures that are no longer being grazed. They make excellent fence posts because they rot so slowly.

    Yes they are, and I really enjoyed seeing them on the North Kaibab Trail in the Grand Canyon.
