Agave parryi

Agave parryi is one of my favorite plants.  The leaves form beautiful patterns of the spines as they unfold from the central cone.  The flower stalk is also wonderful, but this isn’t the time of year for it.

And here’s part of the road we drove to get there – some sections were a little rougher than my old 4WD car should to traveling on.  But we did it!  I do love my Xterra.

The Rio Grande valley is visible past the brown hills.  And in the distance on the right is Cooke’s Peak.
