This photo hangs over my desk as a reminder to “just take the photo now.” Yes, it’s just a grab shot, but I have never seen that truck in front of that shop before or since. The green colors made this a very popular card that I sell locally.
The lesson for me: do not listen to the voice that says ‘I’m busy, I’ll get it later.” Or to the one that says, “the lighting isn’t good, come later in the day.” Just shoot it now. And then work on the finer points if there is time. There’s a good chance the scene will not occur again. In this town a structure might be destroyed by next week! Oh how many of our old buildings where I wish I had gotten at least a grab shot…
